ATTENTION: The deadline for paper proposals has been extended to July 31, 2008!

Welcome to the Web site for the 34th annual international conference on Social Theory, Politics and the Arts (STP&A), which will take place at the Peabody Court Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland from October 16 to 18, 2008.

STP&A is an international and interdisciplinary gathering of researchers, policymakers and practitioners that highlights current and conceptual issues in the development of cultural policy, theory, and arts administration practices in the United States and abroad. The conference typically draws participation from a broad range of disciplines, including, but not limited to, sociology, political science, management, economics, law, arts education, history and art history, and museum studies, as well as more applied policy and management perspectives.

Proposals for papers will be welcomed in all of these areas.

The theme of the 2008 conference is broadly construed as Social Theory, Poltiics and the Arts and we invite papers on a wide range of topics so as to allow the participants papers and panels to shape the focus of he Conference.

Please click the link above for “call for papers” to learn more about the submission process for both papers and complete panels.

Please check back with this site as additional program and logistics information on the conference becomes available, and please feel free to contact us anytime at 2008STPA@gmail.com with questions you may have.

We look forward to having you in Baltimore. See you in October…

Sincerely,
Richard
